COVINGTON – Mrs. Mary Weldon DeHaven, age 87, a life resident of Covington, died at 7:20 a.m. Wednesday, Sept. 3, at the Care Nursing Home in Danville, Ill., where she had been a patient since July 9. She had been seriously ill since June 25. Mrs. DeHaven was born Sept. 27, 1881 in Covington, the daughter of Marmaduke and Nevada Jarvis Weldon. She was married Oct. 14, 1908, to Arista M. DeHaven, who preceded her in death March 19, 1963. She was a member of the Covington Woman's Club, the Richard Henry Lee Chapter of DAR, the Wabash River Sketch Club and a former member of the Alpha Gamma Chapter of Tri Kappa, She attended St. Mary's-of-the-Woods in Terre Haute and was an artist. Mrs. DeHaven painted one of the murals in the Fountain County Courthouse in Covington and several years ago helped to touch up a number of the murals. Surviving are: one niece, Mrs. David M. (Zola) Shoup of Arlington, Va., one nephew, Floyd DeHaven of Covington, and one cousin, Eugene Savage of Woodbury, Conn. Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Friday at the Bodine & Shelby Funeral Home here. The Rev. Robert H. Miller, pastor of the First Methodist Church, officiated and burial was in Mt. Hope Cemetery, Covington. - jlr
